Artist's Comments

Alone, lost in thoughts. The world fades away.

Everything else is darkness.

From the photograph I posted Here. I loved the expression on his face, but I wanted to clear away his messy hair, and the superfluous details to create an image that is pensive and calm, and elegant.

Model is Tsaven

it looks more like a pencil drawing than a photo! =) nice!
:iconsaylamarz:
thank you.

Haha maybe I should have lied and told everyone it is! :D.

That's kind of the simplicity I was going for though, so I'll call that illusion a success :)
:iconlenaine:
SO..is it really a drawing? o_o
:iconsaylamarz:
HAHA. No, it's a lot of photoshopping, levels adjusting, blending, erasing, layering and so on.

But now that you've put the idea in my head I want to do a pencil sketch! I'll make him look a little different because I'm always slightly short of photorealism. But I'll probably have to try now. :P
:iconlenaine:
It's a good idea ^__^ try and then, if the work become well, you post here! A bit of manual exercise is never bad! =D anyway.. Oo you might use photoshop very well if the results are theese!
:iconsaylamarz:
Haha I'm a bit obsessive compulsive, so I stick at it until I reach what I want. Same thing with drawing and painting. It's not that I'm good it's that I'm persistant. :D

Love the detail in the facial hair and lips!!! And also, the composition is great...

I know this was originally a digital shot... but do you shoot manual as well or have access to a camera? You'd probably LOVE infrared film... I know I do! It gets that same "glow" and really pale skin - really quite beautiful.

Awesome work hun!

I do have a manual and I REALLY want to experiment with infrared....

I just haven't gotten to address it as I have a lot of film to move through before I should be buying more, and I still haven't found a good place to develop film without ruining it. Isn't IR film pretty expensive?
:iconcherriness:
YOu should!!! I would almost never shoot people without it again - but it's really sensitive to light and can usually only be shot at lower ISO's... so it makes it difficult in some situations.

It's more expensive then regular film... so what I suggest is during the photoshop - shoot one roll of normal film to act as "warm-up" film before using your infrared stuff

But the extra cost is soo worth it!! Just store your other film in the fridge for now ;)
